FARM/ARTS EXCHANGE 2014

Viewing our local farm and art communities as vibrant and central to the sense of place

This is a unique farm-inspired art project created by thirteen area artists and writers (and one school group) paired with local farms. Our goal is to investigate how humans' connection to the land is central to earth's restoration and our own survival. We will observe those who plant, grow and harvest - those who seem to understand the language of reciprocity between humans and the natural world. We will mine the stories of the farm to inform our work, believing that a close study of place will reveal broader truths.

We ask these questions:

  • How can the local foods movement transform relationships between people, food and farms?

  • What is our part in this process?

  • Artists can use their voices, alongside farmers, to effect social change. What might that look like?

These artists and farmers will get to know one another during the 2014 growing season. Their work will culminate in an art exhibit & readings at Reversing Falls Sanctuary in late 2014. We hope that a series of talks by farmers and artists will emerge, as well as continuing community conversation.  More here.
