Before there was woven fabric, before crochet and knitting, there was felt. Learn the ancient art of creating textiles from wool using wet felting techniques. Wet felting utilizes the unique qualities of the wool fiber. In this workshop you will learn to lay down fiber, make prefelt, and create an inlay design. You can bring your own ideas or be inspired by traditional designs.
We will also intersperse our day with some qigong: gentle exercises which are a nice complement to felting and other activities of daily life.
All materials will be supplied. Feel free to bring your own fiber or embellishments.
Reversing Falls Sanctuary expect all classes and its participants to follow current covid guidelines as they unfold. In person classes are limited to those fully vaccinated and masked.
Mia Kanazawa has been a dancer, choreographer, giant puppet maker, petanque competitor, fiber artist, and most recently - owner of Mia’s Springrolls and Tai Chi teacher on the Peninsula. These seemingly unrelated activities are in fact merely different intentions expressed through the same body. Such is the journey of life, and sometimes it is worth circling back. Mia wishes to thank Reversing Falls Sanctuary for this opportunity.
