Close to 20 friends of the Reversing Falls Sanctuary participated in this year’s Equinox ritual. People burned their burdens from the dark winter, with music provided by Jackie Pike and Bill Gawley. This Equinox program at the Bagaduce River was dedicated to the people of Ukraine. A small Ukraine flag, blue over yellow, flew from the small life raft constructed for this event to carry our incense and our hopes and prayers through the Reversing Falls and out to the sea. The raft stalled and had to be nudged along by our two young friends, Belle and Ry, Carol Simanton’s grandchildren. They saved the day! The life raft finally was caught by the current and it went under the bridge and shot out the other side and was taken by some very rough waters. It stayed on course and was last seen making its way out to sea, its flag still flying. The weather held, people sang, burdens were burned and hopes for the Ukrainian people were sent out into the world, our collective prayers.
